Major theme park announces it is closing rides and cutting opening hours after £2.7million loss

The historic attraction, which was opened on the town's seafront in 1896, said it had been struggling with visitor numbers not recovering after the pandemic - and now faces a sharp rise in staff costs.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach theme park will close five rides, reduce opening hours, and cut staff due to a £2.7 million pre-tax loss in the latest financial year (to March 24, 2024). This is attributed to struggling visitor numbers after the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. The park plans to invest in infrastructure and has no current plans for further ride closures, with new attractions planned for the future.
