An Indian man was sentenced to life in prison for the 2017 rape and murder of Danielle McLaughlin, a 28-year-old woman from Buncrana, Ireland. McLaughlin had been in India for two weeks and was seeking help from the perpetrator to find accommodation before her death. Her mother stated that justice was served, but it would not bring her daughter back.
