A 47-year-old man has undergone a rare third kidney transplant at a private hospital here, leaving him with a total of five kidneys in his body.
A 47-year-old man, Devendra Barlewar, underwent a rare third kidney transplant at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, in Delhi. Barlewar, who had battled chronic kidney disease for 15 years and experienced two failed transplants in 2010 and 2012, received a new kidney after the donation by a brain-dead farmer's family. The surgery, which involved removing four non-functioning kidneys, posed significant challenges due to the risk of immune rejection. Despite these challenges, the transplant was successful, and Barlewar was discharged within ten days with stable kidney function. He now lives with a total of five kidneys in his body.
