Austin Desylva, 28, is currently in custody awaiting sentencing
Austin Desylva, 28, is in custody after firing a firearm at RCMP Cpl. Reyno La Cock during a check stop. Two shots were fired; one hit the officer's vehicle, and another struck a home, with no injuries reported. La Cock returned fire, hitting Desylva in the head and neck. Desylva is awaiting sentencing and is considered lucky to be alive, despite the Calgary Sun's policy against using the phrase unless the subject used it themselves.
