Number of births in the area hospital covers has fallen by 14 per cent in the area in the past five years
The maternity unit at the Royal Free Hospital in north London will close due to a 14% decline in birth rates over the past five years. This decision, confirmed by the North Central London Integrated Care Board, follows a restructuring plan where four out of five maternity units serving several boroughs will remain open. Additionally, birthing suites at Edgware Birth Centre will close, while antenatal and postnatal care services will expand out of the centre.
