Lando Norris of McLaren took pole position for the Australian Grand Prix, edging out teammate Oscar Piastri by eight-hundredths of a second. Max Verstappen qualified third, while Lewis Hamilton was eighth. McLaren showed strong pace, surprising both themselves and Ferrari. This is Norris' first ever pole position in Australia and McLaren's first since 2012.
