Ahead of the third round of wage negotiations for public sector employees, the lead negotiator for municipal employers, Karin Welge, rejected Verdi's demands as "unrealistic" and financially unsustainable for municipalities, estimating a cost of €15 billion per year. She also criticized recent warning strikes and emphasized the public sector's attractiveness as an employer. Verdi is demanding an 8% wage increase, a minimum of €350 for lower incomes, and three additional days off. Municipal employers have not yet made an offer.
