The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced on March 20, 2025, that the military will protect national assets and crack down on oil thieves, following recent explosions on oil pipelines in Rivers. Troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft valued at N461.7 million in the past week, recovering stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, and destroying numerous illegal refining sites.
