Mixed race Ralph Lauren stylist compared to the 'United Colours of Benetton' by her boss at Sloane Square store wins £11k racial harassment payout

Rikki Grey's 'offensive' boss Nathan Rickerby likened her mixed ethnicity to the Italian fashion brand - known in the 1980s for it's multi-racial advertising campaigns.

Rikki Grey, a mixed-race stylist at a Ralph Lauren-owned Club Monaco store, won £11,286.95 in a racial harassment payout after her boss, Nathan Rickerby, compared her to the "United Colours of Benetton." An employment tribunal ruled Rickerby's comments, made in June 2019, were offensive and related to Grey's mixed heritage, leading to work-related stress and legal proceedings. While other discrimination claims were dismissed, the tribunal concluded Rickerby's language was inappropriate, especially given his managerial position.
