Teenage girls in care of Tusla being groomed and sexually exploited by older men, says researcher
Over 30 Garda investigations are active concerning the suspected grooming and sexual exploitation of teenage girls in Irish State care (Tusla). Twenty-eight such cases were reported to gardaí last year. Tusla acknowledges the increased risk of exploitation for vulnerable youth, and a dedicated Garda operation exists to address the issue. Limited availability of secure care unit beds and staffing shortages further endanger children at risk.
