More than 600 jobs face axe at University of Dundee to tackle £35m deficit

The University and College Union described the news as a ‘hammer blow’ for staff.

To address a £35 million deficit, the University of Dundee plans to cut 632 jobs across all departments, restructure into three faculties, reduce modules by 20%, downsize research, and review leadership. The university will seek funding for redundancy packages and consider selling assets. An external investigation will examine the causes of the financial crisis, attributed to inflation, cost increases, financial control failures, and poor capital planning. The University and College Union criticized the cuts.
