More than 60,000 popular Ford vehicles just recalled in Canada over crash risks

Canadians who own a Ford vehicle may want to check if it's part of a massive recall.The car manufacturer is recalling 60,221 Ford light trucks, vans and SUVs over brake issues that it says could lead to an increased risk of a crash."Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the electronic brake booster motor to shut down. If this happens, there could be a sudden increase in brake pedal force," reads a recall notice issued by Transport Canada, which was updated on Aug. 6.The agency adds that this could cause certain driver assistance systems to malfunction."This problem would cause the antilock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC) and brake warning lights to turn on, warning messages to display in the instrument cluster, and a warning chime to sound," reads the notice.Not only could these malfunctioning driver assistance systems increase the risk of a crash, but so could the brake software issues."A sudden incr...
