Most parents believe pandemic harmed their children’s social development

A CSO study found that most parents in Ireland believe school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted their children's social development and education. This sentiment was strongest among parents of children in special schools and less well-off families. Students themselves largely agreed regarding the impact on secondary education, but third-level students were more optimistic about the pandemic's effect on their future career prospects compared to their parents' perceptions.
