MSP's praise as NHS Lanarkshire hits child mental health target

According to new figures released by Public Health Scotland, 90.8 per cent of young people in NHS Lanarkshire were seen within 18 weeks of referral with the Scottish number being 90.6 per cent.

NHS Lanarkshire has achieved a milestone by meeting the Scottish Government's target for child mental health services, with 90.8% of young people seen within 18 weeks of referral, slightly exceeding the national average of 90.6%. This is the first time the target has been met since its introduction over a decade ago. MSP Clare Adamson praised the progress, noting that half of the children started treatment within four weeks, an improvement from previous periods. However, concerns remain about waiting times for neurodevelopmental conditions like autism and ADHD. Dr. Kandarp Joshi emphasized the need for continued investment, urging the Scottish Government to allocate 10% of NHS spend to mental health and 1% to CAMHS.
