NAAT demands reversal of telecom tariff hike, payment of withheld salaries

The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has demanded the reversal of telecom tariff hikes and the payment of withheld salaries. NAAT has called on telecommunications companies to revert to old tariffs until the Federal Government's review committee completes its work. The association also raised concerns over delays in salary payments, wage disparities, and irregular remittances due to the transition from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System to the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System. NAAT warned that constant changes in university leadership could hinder growth and urged the government to appoint credible individuals to governing councils. The union also supports the Nigeria Labour Congress in opposing tax reforms and opposes the recent telecom tariff hike. NAAT has threatened a three-day warning strike to protest withheld salaries and the 200% fee hike by federal universities. The association emphasized the need to address these issues to maintain industrial harmony in the education sector.
