A new "Western Forest" is being created across 2,500 hectares in western England (Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Bristol), with plans to plant 20 million trees by 2050. Led by the Forest of Avon and supported by £7.5m of government funding, the project aims to bring nature closer to cities and towns, boost wildlife, mitigate the climate crisis, and enhance landscapes.
