Following a collision between a cargo ship and a tanker in the North Sea off the coast of Yorkshire, plastic particles have been found in the water and on beaches. While not toxic, the plastic poses a risk to marine and coastal wildlife, who may ingest it. Authorities believe the plastic entered the water during the collision.
