Following Tropical Cyclone Alfred, severe weather and flooding impacted Queensland and New South Wales, causing widespread power outages, rescues, and significant rainfall exceeding 400mm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology defended its forecasting after criticism from the Fraser Coast mayor regarding inadequate warnings for Harvey Bay. A severe weather warning remains in place, with continued localized flooding expected. One death was reported in northern NSW.
