Nurse manager failed to call ambulance for patient who drank cleaning fluid in Dublin hospital

Patient died some days later after being transferred to an acute hospital in Dublin

A clinical nurse manager in a Dublin hospital, Ann Marie Ryan, is under investigation by the Nursing and Midwifery Board Fitness to Practise Inquiry for allegedly failing to call an ambulance for a patient who drank cleaning fluid in March 2021. Ryan is also accused of instructing junior staff not to call an ambulance or file an incident report. The patient was eventually transferred to an acute hospital after a GP was called but died some days later.
