Turkish Olympic skier Berkin Usta and his father, Yahya Usta, died in a fire at a closed hotel in Uludag, Turkey. The Kervansaray Hotel, shut down in January due to permit cancellation, was empty of guests. The hotel manager has been detained. This follows a previous hotel fire in January that killed 79.
