One person reported dead in avalanche near Lake Louise Ski Resort

Victim carried for 50 metres, buried in as much as to 200 centimetres of snow



Two skiers died in separate avalanches west of Calgary on Friday, March 14, 2025. One avalanche occurred near Lake Louise Ski Resort's backcountry, burying a skier who was later found deceased. The second avalanche occurred in Kananaskis Country near the Black Prince day-use area, resulting in another fatality. Avalanche Canada had issued a warning of considerable to high avalanche risk in the area due to recent heavy snowfall.
