Ottawa to make dental care program available to more Canadians

Health Minister Kamal Khera said the government is expecting an additional 4.5 million Canadians to be eligible and coverage will start as early as June 1.

The Canadian federal government is expanding its dental care program to include all Canadians with household incomes under $90,000 who lack private insurance. Applications open in May, starting with those aged 55-64. The program, initially launched for seniors, has been expanded in phases and has already provided care to approximately 1.7 million Canadians. The government anticipates an additional 4.5 million will become eligible. The Conservatives' future commitment to the program is uncertain.
