Owners of tanker involved in North Sea collision praise crew for their “bravery”

The Marine Accidental Investigation Branch is trying to establish the cause of the explosive collision

A collision between the Stena Immaculate tanker and the Solong cargo ship in the North Sea resulted in one missing sailor and the rescue of 36 people. The tanker owners praised the crew's bravery in containing the damage after at least one cargo tank carrying jet fuel ruptured. Plastic pellets from the Solong have washed ashore on nearby beaches. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway, and the captain of the Solong has been charged with manslaughter.
