Parents are camping outside the Department of Education in Dublin to protest the lack of school places for children with additional needs, citing long waits for assessments and school placement refusals. They are concerned about their children's potential regression without proper schooling. Almost 200 children nationwide are without placements for September. The Department of Education acknowledges the demonstration, stating that they are aware, are working with the NCSE to find appropriate placements, and are considering measures such as compelling schools to open special classes and introducing a common application system.
