Pastor Eva Steege, terminally ill and in hospice care, is fighting the Trump administration's efforts to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in order to get $15,000 in student loans forgiven under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, fearing the debt will burden her family. She is now the only named plaintiff in a lawsuit against the CFPB closure.
