People with a Blue Badge urged to claim £195 saving before cut

Blue Badge holders are exempt from paying Vehicle Tax, but a rule change next month could catch 15 people out.

Blue Badge holders in the UK, especially those with EVs registered in the last eight years, are urged to check their vehicle tax exemption status before an upcoming road tax change next month. A rule change on April 1st could mean Blue Badge holders may have to pay £195 a year. Blue Badge holders are exempt from vehicle tax, but the car must be registered in the badge holder's or their nominated driver's name and only used for the badge holder's personal needs. Applications for an exemption can be made at the Post Office. Those with mobility issues or hidden disabilities may be eligible for a Blue Badge itself, obtainable through local councils.
