Perv priest banned by Vatican dead at 85 as community 'mourn' loss despite alter boy abuse

Allegations of child abuse against archpriest Eucharist Sultana were deemed to be 'credible' in a Church Safe Guarding report but he was never investigated by the police because of time elapsed

Eucharist Sultana, an archpriest from Gozo, Malta, who was banned by the Vatican in 2021 due to credible child abuse allegations, has died at 85. The abuse involved an altar boy over four years, which stopped when the boy was 17 and was reported later. Despite the ban, a funeral was held with Gozo Bishop Anton Teuma officiating. The case was investigated but not criminally charged due to time elapsed, prompting calls to remove time bars in such cases.
