On March 24, 2025, police and military forces rescued a kidnapped naval officer and two civilians in Mpape, Abuja, after they were abducted on March 21. Four suspects were arrested in Nasarawa State, and N3.2 million in suspected ransom money was recovered. A joint operation was launched following a distress report, after the kidnappers demanded a N500 million ransom for the officer and N200 million each for the civilians.
