The National Police Service (NPS) has launched a comprehensive investigation into a violent confrontation that broke out during a Sunday service at the Kariobangi North PCEA Church, leaving six people injured and sparking political tensions. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who attended the service, accused police officers of launching an attack on the congregation to punish the people of Kariobangi North for rejecting a UDA candidate. He alleged that police and hired “goons” opened fire at the church, seriously injuring two supporters of the Democratic Change Party (DCP).
