Population aged 90 and over hits new high as more men live to old age

In 2023, the UK population aged 90 and over reached a new high of 611,719, driven by a rising number of men living to that age. While women still make up the majority of this age group, the number of men is increasing, narrowing the gap between the sexes. The number of centenarians slightly decreased to 16,140 in 2023.
