The team suffered a heartbreaking loss in the semifinals against Sweden but managed to recover emotionally, staying up until 4 AM to console each other. With only about 24 hours to prepare, they went on to win the bronze medal by defeating Denmark in the third-place playoff. Voina highlighted the emotional support he provided, especially to top scorer Cristina Neagu. A significant boost came when former President Traian Băsescu called to congratulate the team, adding to their motivation. The team's resilience and Voina's leadership were key factors in securing the bronze medal, marking a memorable achievement in Romanian handball history.
