Daniel Heath and William Lawrence, both 22,have admitted breaking up a fiberglass model of Paddington Bear that was sitting on a bench in Newbury, Berkshire.
RAF engineers Daniel Heath and William Lawrence pleaded guilty to criminal damage after drunkenly stealing and vandalizing a Paddington Bear statue in Newbury, Michael Bond's birthplace. They were caught on CCTV dismembering the statue, part of a nationwide trail, and taking it back to their base. The pair received community orders and were ordered to pay £2,275 each for the £5,451 damage. The incident caused outrage, with locals leaving tributes at the site.
