RAF engineers admit ripping beloved Paddington Bear statue in half and stealing it 'on drunken night out'

RAF engineers Daniel Heath and William Lawrence pleaded guilty to criminal damage after drunkenly stealing and vandalizing a Paddington Bear statue in Newbury, Michael Bond's birthplace. They were caught on CCTV dismembering the statue, part of a nationwide trail, and taking it back to their base. The pair received community orders and were ordered to pay £2,275 each for the £5,451 damage. The incident caused outrage, with locals leaving tributes at the site.
