Toshiba and NSTA announced the regional winners of the 33rd annual ExploraVision competition, a K-12 science competition focused on problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. Twenty-four winning teams will advance to the national phase, competing for up to $10,000 each and Chromebooks. Projects include innovations like sign language-to-speech glasses and nut allergy detectors. Examples of the winning medical technology innovations included a nasal spray to stop brain-eating amoeba, an artificial eye and wearable devices for asthma or seizure predictions. Since 1992, ExploraVision has involved nearly 450,000 students.
