Residents ask IBEDC to disconnect community over irregular power supply

Residents of Iree, Osun State, have demanded that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) disconnect their town due to prolonged irregular power supply and arbitrary estimated billing. Prince Ali Afolabi, a real estate developer, accused IBEDC of exploiting residents by using black meters for estimated billing, which often results in exorbitant charges. He urged the company to disconnect the town if it cannot improve power supply. Muyiwa Aina, another resident, echoed dissatisfaction, noting that the town receives only about two hours of electricity daily. IBEDC, however, appealed for understanding, citing technical and supply challenges and stating it is working to distribute power equitably.
