Rivers crisis: Police vow to crush militants threatening oil production

In Rivers State, Nigeria, March 7, 2025, the Niger Delta Rescue Movement threatened to attack oil installations due to a political crisis and withheld federal allocations. The Rivers State Police vowed to crush the militants, assuring residents of their readiness to maintain security. The militants, in a viral video, demanded President Tinubu's intervention to resolve the political impasse involving Minister Wike and the state House of Assembly, threatening to disrupt oil production if the state's allocation isn't released. A governorship candidate, Amb Sobomabo Jackrich, disassociated himself and his party from the militants.
