Royal Navy could bring four laser 'death ray' weapons that can destroy a £1 coin from a kilometre away into service in just two years under defence spending boost

The spaced-aged 'death ray', dubbed 'DragonFire', is used to blow up missiles, jets and swarms of explosive suicide drones - with a former head of the Royal Navy hailing them 'war-winners'.

The Royal Navy could deploy four "DragonFire" laser weapons on warships by 2027, following a defense spending boost. These lasers, costing approximately £10 per shot, can destroy a £1 coin from a kilometer away and counter missiles, jets, and drones. The deployment aims to address threats from Russian UAVs/hypersonic missiles and drone attacks on ships, potentially replacing expensive missiles for defense.
