Peace impossible unless West stops giving arms and intelligence to Kyiv, Kremlin says
Following a call between Presidents Trump and Putin, Russia agreed to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities for 30 days. This was part of a US ceasefire proposal. While Ukraine backed the halt, they fear Russia's intentions. Trump stated he reached "an understanding" with Putin for a complete ceasefire and end to the war. Progress towards a peace deal is contingent on the West ceasing military aid to Kyiv, according to Russia. The US has pressured Ukraine not to expect to regain all occupied land or join NATO. Both countries will release prisoners as a goodwill gesture.
