Rutherglen MP welcomes Scottish Government funding to tackle violence against women and girls

The Scottish Government has announced a £2.4 million funding uplift for over 100 organizations tackling violence against women and girls, bringing the total funding for 2025-26 to £21.6 million. Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey welcomed the funding, which will support grassroots organizations such as Liber8 Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire Council, and Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire (WASLER). The funding will help prevent abuse and ensure survivors can access vital support. The Delivering Equally Safe Fund, established in 2021, supports projects aligned with Scotland’s Equally Safe strategy to eradicate violence against women and girls. A £19.2 million funding extension until March 2026 was also announced, contingent on Scottish Budget approval.
