San Antonio and Detroit are among the U.S. cities most vulnerable to tariffs: report

Research says San Antonio is the most vulnerable American city because almost half of its exports are destined for Canada

A report identifies San Antonio and Detroit as among the most vulnerable U.S. cities to tariffs, with San Antonio being particularly exposed due to high export volume to Canada. Research from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce indicates San Antonio, Detroit, and Kansas City are the most vulnerable American cities to a trade war. The report analyzed 41 U.S. cities and highlights the economic risks for cities heavily reliant on trade with Canada and Mexico. Previously released research indicated Calgary, Saint John, N.B., and Windsor, Ont., would be the hardest-hit Canadian cities by U.S. tariffs. Chicago, Detroit, and Houston are the largest exporters to Canada in terms of value, with Houston exporting $18 billion in 2023.
