Six dead after tourist submarine ‘dived with hatches still open’ in Egypt’s Red Sea, claims survivor

Thirty-nine people were rescued when the vessel sank off the coast of the city of Hurghada early on Thursday

A tourist submarine, Sindbad, sank in Egypt's Red Sea, killing six Russian passengers and injuring 29 others. A survivor claimed the submarine dove with open hatches. The submarine had 50 people onboard, including 45 tourists from Russia, India, Norway, and Sweden, and five Egyptian crew members. The submarine, which holds two of the only “14 real recreational submarines worldwide”, had a viewing window for each person.
