French Socialist Euro-deputy Raphael Glucksmann demanded the U.S. return the Statue of Liberty, arguing it no longer represents freedom due to U.S. policies. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France unveiled in 1886 and designed by Frenchman Auguste Bartholdi. Glucksmann expressed disappointment in the U.S. and criticized Americans who "sided with tyrants."
