Solicitors’ watchdog not taking action over Jonathan Reynolds’ LinkedIn page

Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary, faced accusations of misrepresenting his legal career after referring to himself as a solicitor on LinkedIn, in parliamentary discussions, and on an old constituency website, despite only being a trainee solicitor. The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) contacted Reynolds in January about an error on his LinkedIn profile, which was corrected. The SRA concluded no further action was needed. Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith requested an investigation, while Reform UK urged the Prime Minister to remove Reynolds. Reynolds, who worked as a trainee solicitor before entering politics, has been defended, with some suggesting the references were errors.
