Incidents of sexual abuse by Spiritans were among 2,395 allegations at 308 schools run by religious orders
Spiritans have paid €8.8 million in settlements to 125 abuse survivors since 1998, including 52 survivors who came forward after the RTÉ documentary "Blackrock Boys" in November 2022. The allegations involve sexual abuse at Spiritan-run schools, such as Blackrock College, where 55 claims were made against 13 alleged abusers. The scoping inquiry report revealed 2,395 allegations across 308 religious schools. The Spiritans have also engaged 171 survivors in a restorative justice program.
