Spotlight on food waste in Malaysia as Ramadan bazaar trash becomes fashion

A food waste-reduction group collected over 46,000kg of unsold food over the first two weeks of Ramadan this year, but said the actual wastage was likely to be much higher.



A Malaysian food waste-reduction group, MySaveFood, collected over 46,000kg of unsold food in the first two weeks of Ramadan. To highlight the issue of excessive food waste from Ramadan bazaars, the group launched the #BazirRamadan campaign with a trash fashion show featuring outfits made from discarded food.
