Stop Takeover Of Osun LGs By ‘Sacked’ Chairmen, Federal Lawmakers Tell Tinubu

The Osun State Caucus in the 10th National Assembly has urged President Bola Tinubu to prevent local government chairmen, sacked by a Federal High Court in November 2022, from forcefully taking over council secretariats. The caucus called on the president to instruct the national security adviser and the attorney general to advise the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun on the legal implications of their actions, describing them as "barbaric" and a threat to democracy. The leader of the caucus, Salam, condemned the APC's actions, including those of Gboyega Oyetola, the minister of marine and blue economy. The caucus highlighted that while the Court of Appeal struck out a judgment by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the judgment by the Action Peoples Party (APP) remains subsisting, emphasizing adherence to the rule of law.
