Sve više djece i mladih ovisno je o društvenim mrežama. Kako to prepoznati i reagirati

Increasing numbers of children and teenagers are becoming dependent on social media, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO report reveals that the rate of problematic social media use among adolescents rose from 7% in 2018 to 11% in 2022, impacting over 280,000 young people across Canada, Central Asia, and Europe. Symptoms of dependence include difficulty controlling usage, withdrawal feelings when offline, neglecting daily activities, and negative impacts on real-life functioning.
Experts warn that social media triggers dopamine release, reinforcing frequent use, and its constant availability exacerbates dependency. Signs of addiction include inability to recognize negative impacts, disrupted daily routines, and arguments over screen time.
To address this, experts recommend setting family boundaries on screen time, modeling healthy behavior, and seeking professional help if needed. They also emphasize the importance of balancing social media use with essential activities like studying, sleeping, and hobbies. Parents are advised to use parental controls and discuss safe and responsible online behavior with their children.
