Syria's interim leader, Ahmad al-Sharaa, signed a deal with Mazloum Abdi, commander of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to integrate Kurdish forces into the Syrian army and establish a nationwide ceasefire. The agreement puts border crossings, airports, and oil fields in northeast Syria under the regime's control. The deal aims to integrate SDF institutions into the new state by the end of the year.
