Tapbots teases a new Bluesky app, Phoenix, saying it can’t ‘survive on Mastodon alone’
Tapbots, the developer behind the Mastodon client Ivory, is developing a new app called Phoenix for Bluesky, a social network with over 32 million users. The company, which previously developed Tweetbot, emphasized that it cannot rely solely on Mastodon for its business, as its user base is split between Mastodon and Bluesky. Development of Ivory will slow temporarily to focus on Phoenix, but both apps will eventually be developed concurrently. Phoenix is expected to enter a limited public alpha phase before its summer 2025 launch, with plans for a subscription-based monetization model similar to Ivory's.
