Tensions escalate as China conducts a SECOND firing exercise in the Tasman Sea

New Zealand's Defence Minister Judith Collins confirmed the second day of warship exercises in the Tasman Sea on Saturday.

China conducted a second live-firing exercise in the Tasman Sea, observed by the New Zealand Defense Force, which expressed concern over the lack of prior notice. The exercise involved a cruiser, frigate, and refueling vessel, differing from previous research-focused activities. New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Luxon and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese are coordinating their responses, with Luxon emphasizing the need for better notification and clarity on the exercises' purpose. Australia's Prime Minister acknowledged the exercises' legality but stressed the importance of advanced communication. Airlines, including Qantas and Emirates, adjusted flight paths due to the activities. Diplomatic efforts include New Zealand's foreign minister seeking explanations from China during the G20 meeting.
