The kitchen staple that can help you stave off hay fever this spring

Nearly half of all Britons have hay fever (pictured, file photo), which tends to worsen during spring, when airborne grass pollens are at their peak.

Experts suggest that eating foods high in quercetin, such as apples and onions, and supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids may help reduce hay fever symptoms by inhibiting histamine release. Other remedies include saline rinses, petroleum jelly on nostrils, washing clothes, and keeping windows closed during high pollen days.
